Okay my Curlies! I’m guilty! Ever since summer rolled around, I’ve been SERIOUSLY slackin on the blog posting! (sorry mah curls!)
I’ve been putting up videos over at the NapturalNicole YouTube page:
And you can see some hair/product reviews, event features, and some of what I’ve been doing this summer- but here’s the quickest recap- and the biggest promise (you’ll see a few posts this week to make it up to you!) for more bloggin and details!
Here we go:
Last I checked in with y’all, I was headed to Philly for the Philadelphia Natural Hair Show (review post tomorrow!):
The even was a BLAST, filled with some of the most beautiful Curlies- and I enjoyed co hosting a session on Everything Natural Hair! I even dropped the Crisco Creme magic on the ladies- you know I got a million thank you emails after that- Crisco Creme is EVERYTHING! Hahaha!
After the weekend in Philly, I’ve been trying to spend more time at home, when I can (you know about all my business travel to Miami/Tampa/Atlanta!)- so I’ve had a few projects going on.
The first was repairing my broken AC unit! Yessssss- this Curlie Girlie does it all! Hahaha! I looked up some online tutorials, bought the supplies at a local warehouse, and installed a new motor and capacitor (like the ‘battery sorta’) on our outdoor AC unit!
The repair company quote was $1200- and I did it myself for $120 in 1.5 hours! WOO HOO! If you follow me on Instagram (NapturalNicole on Instagram), you’ll see video of me sweating and freaking out and hoping I get it right- hahaha!
After a little home repair- my next project was setting up a super fast, inexpensive, portable, ‘grow anywhere’ vegetable garden.
For about $50, I was able to get all the supplies (seeds and starter plants included), soil, and planters (these are actual $1.49 IKEA trash cans I put holes in for water drainage!)- and plant- Beans, Tomatoes, Bell Peppers, Radishes, Carrots, and Spinach! That should help bring down some of our veggie eatin costs this summer! And it’s so easy to maintain!
After setting up the garden, I decided I wanted a way for The Hubbin and MeSelf to enjoy our backyard- but not spend a crazy amount of $ installing a deck or patio (I said I was cheap-lol). Then I saw these at a warehouse off the highway in Baltimore:
And it was obvious…for only $100- we are building an outdoor wooden patio deck! We got to work, and are LOVING the results so far! I’ll have a dedicated post, when we’ve finished painting, decorating and more- but here’s a preview:
