I’ve wanted to be part of #teamredlipstick for some time now, and I finally think I made it!
After much exploration (my first attempt ended up in a coral color),

I finally settled on these colors;
1. MAC Cosmetics- Ruby Woo
2. MAC Cosmetics- Russian Red
3. Wet & Wild- Stoplight Red
They’re all basically the same color. Hahaha. Ruby Woo is more matte than the others, Russian Red is a tad bit ‘orangey’- and Wet & Wild is a cheap, creamier, dupe for Ruby Woo.
I’m still not 100% sure how to ‘wear’ lipstick (liners, blotting and all that), and pretty much only know how to wear it with black (nighttime) or very basic daytime tee and jeans sorta thing.
So far, I like the red lip best with pitch black Crochet braids (or twist out- I think it looks pinup-ish). I also pair it with SUPER muted makeup- neutral golds, minimal eye makeup. Here’s some pics from my faux photoshoot:

I love it!

Have you tried the red lipstick trend? What’s your favorite look?
The thing about red lipstick is, it makes your lips look fuller. I like you already have full lips so we have to be careful of what shade of red we wear and how its warn; I personally avoid the color all together. But I you look good in the pic w/ your braids up in a bun. . .
Thanks Caparice! I’m definitely still figuring it out! A friend of mine told me that red lipstick is about ‘confidence’- and she’s right- just like you said, EVERYTHANG stand out more. So if you’re not comfortable with that, then its not for you. I like wearing it, but I’m still trying to figure out when and where. Thanks for visiting the blog, and for your tips!
nicole how do you get your hair in those spirals my hair is done same syle but not spirals
Sabrina- I wish I could tell you I had some magic trick to get my hair spirally- but this is actually my favorite protective style- CROCHET BRAIDS! What you’re seeing here is the pattern of the extension hair (Freetress Water Wave Bulk Braiding Hair in color #1). My natural hair is fully protected and braided in straight back cornrows underneath! I have all the details on how to create this hairstyle yourself on my blog- just search ‘Crochet Braids!’
