Life changing. Curlies, I’ve mentioned over and over how much I dislike wearing my hair in two strand twists. I can’t stand how ‘scalpy’, thin, and bare my head looks- so I almost always pin them up, or plan for a Twistout…
Well no more! That girl was the pre Obama re-election, pre 28th bday (Nov 6th, YAY!), and pre discovery of the AMAZING dry Two Strand twist technique!!
In reading around on one of my favorite blogs (CurlyNikki), I noticed that she RARELY wears a Twistout that was created using post-wash damp twists. She adds a few extra steps after her wash:
1. Wash and do moisturizing routine.
2. Put hair in jumbo two strand twists.
3. Let hair dry completely.
4. Remove large twists, and place smaller, strategic twists for your hair style. Let twists set overnight.
5. Remove twists (or don’t!), separate (or not!), and go!
Ohhhhh man, the VOLUME!!! Following this method my hair was full, thicker looking, stretched just short of blowout length, and so so moisturizingly soft. Wooo!
Bonus perk: I can really enjoy my one year of diligent hair care- plus having my hair stretched to the max minimized tangling and single strand knots.
And as if it can’t get any better…my Twistout lasted for FOUR days!!! I just spritzed lightly with my aloe vera/water mix, liberally applied coconut oil, ‘pineappled’ and covered with a bonnet before bed. In the morning it was shake and go. To be fair, on day three, I retwisted in fairly large twists before bed to refresh some sections- but it only took 10 minutes!
was am so excited about this discovery. I don’t think I’ll ever rock a wet styled Twistout again (unless I’m feeling lazy…lol…so prob like one week. Haha!)
Curlfriends, you have GOT to try this!
Have you ever tried two strand twists on dry hair? Do you love/hate it?
