I just realized that I hadn’t posted an update on my awesome Henna/Indigo treatment- Here’s the result:
Rich, deep, permanent color- It’s deep black, but in the flash seems to have some dark burgundy hue to it. In person, its completely black. Unlike when I would use traditional chemical dyes, my hair is shiny, so so so soft, and defined. Plus Henna is a strengthening treatment, so my super fine hair is fuller, thicker, and stronger all around.
Post Henna I decided to jump on the ‘Mini Two Strand Twist Bandwagon’- I braided the front of my hair, and put twists in the back.
I am pleased with my length retention as I approach my one year Nappiversary (18 days!!!), and this style looks much better now, than it did a few months ago…but I definitely think it will look best when my curls can graze my shoulders. I do like that this is a protective (low manipulation) style that’s easy for me to do, and lasts around 3 weeks with a Cowash/Retwist refresher.
Next on deck…removing the braids in the front and putting Mini Twists throughout my entire head!
Have you had great results with Henna? What’s your fav ‘extension free’ protective style?
